After over two decades in the broadcasting industry, Pastor Ruth sought to transform the conditions that she had covered for so long as a journalist. God led her to purchase a crack-house in one of the most notorious areas of the city of Houston and there she and her family started a ministry which would become Beulah Land Community Church.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven on earth.
He will know that he will not let your foot slip. He who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches a very style will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you. The Lord is your shade and your right hand. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all home. He will watch over your life. The Lord will wait over your coming and going, both now and forever more.

Thank you, Dr. Cotto. I will give an introduction to Dr. Ruth Alan Allison. She wanted to join us live, but she had another meeting at the same time. So she did record a devotional for us. But she is one of the members of the Board of Governors. She has a master’s degree from in divinity, from Southwestern Theological Seminary, a doctorate in divinity, from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C..
And I know that from her bio is that she was part of radio and TV broadcasting until the Lord called her to buy this house in this notorious neighbor hood, kind of an inner city neighborhood of Houston, and start a ministry there in the ministry that she started later became Beulah Land Church, where she serves as pastor. So it’s really a huge honor that she would bring a devotional for us today.
So let us all listen to what the Lord is saying through her.

Well, good morning to my B.H. Carroll family. I want to tell you what an honor it is to participate with you and with the Carroll family in this devotion time.
The occasion always really gets me because I keep wondering why do I get this opportunity? Because you really had some amazing people to do this. So I’m always honored and humbled by the time to be with such wonderful people doing such great things, and especially to say a word on behalf of our wonderful God. I want to talk in three areas for a short time today.
First, I want to highlight just how blessed we are. Sometimes I think we get into a routine and we get on our wheel and we just go on the wheel. At the end of the day, we rest or have a bite and fall into bed and that’s it. But I want to point out a thread of blessing in what it is that we do.
You probably already know this, but I like to just pointed out and then just to talk about how amazing the education process is in terms of improving our world. And lastly, I would like to share some devotional moments and perhaps a way to incorporate some of the things that I do into your own time. My scripture is very simply the first four words of the Bible.
In the beginning, God. In the beginning God. What would our lives be like if in every beginning and we have them all day and every day in our beginnings, in our conversations, in our work day, in our recreation, how we began with God, what would that be like? I thought about that as I just recently reread the creation accounts in Genesis, and then to think about being the crown of that creation, being men and women who are human beings and having the dominion over this beautiful creation that we have, and then our callings and where we fit into making this world a better place.
How many people are doing such great work? The talents and the gifts that God has given and how important they are. I am grateful. Grateful, grateful to our Almighty God for those callings. For instance, think of the beautiful, amazing system that we have because of farmers. We have food because of ranchers. We have meats. Because of someone. When instead it is medicine.
We have health care. And we have had a sense and I always say that you know, we we deal with Jehovah for God is our real healer. But medicine and people in medicine help as a place holder while our supernatural healing comes from God, as God is the source for everything. And so I’m so grateful to them. I have learned to be grateful for business people and entrepreneurs because because of of these folks, we have jobs and we have an economy that works and we have dreamers and we have inventions and better systems.
And because of those jobs. Right, we have our homes and transportation and. Wow, can we just be thankful for the mounds of transportation that we have now? And that’s because of the invention and the ingenuity that God put into people. And then those people pursued that. And so we have an amazing lives. And I have to give what we call a shout out to those people who work at night.
Right? So when you go to the grocery store or we go to buy clothes, somebody has been working all night long to make sure that those shelves are stacked, to make sure that things are clean and all of that. There’s a whole group of people doing that. And so we can be thankful that for many of us, we just show up and we just go to work.
And I want to say that we need to do that without complaining, but with much, much, much gratitude, even if things are not perfect. And then I have to just say how grateful I am to the people who are dedicating their lives to the work of the ministry, to the Bible, to the Word of God. I am so eternally grateful for those who interpret the word, for those who translate it.
Now we have so many translations of the Bible that we can understand. Sunday I preached on the King James version, and I hadn’t done that for a long time, and I didn’t have to do that because really, that’s not the way we talk now. But what a beautiful language and how wonderful it is that people like yourselves and like me have devoted ourselves to the Holy Bible, to the Word of God, to making sure that others understand and are able to participate in this amazing life that God invites us to.
I’m so grateful to the the the people who put together the strong concordance, for instance, and all the information that we have online now. I still love sitting in libraries and perusing touching papers and all of that, but I’m so grateful to people like yourselves who study and who are in administration and who work to make sure that we have access to the gospel.
Because as we have access to the gospel and we are sharing that according to what Jesus told us to do, to go into all the world and preach the good news. And it is good news that we are loved and accepted by God. Greatly loved, greatly blessed, totally accepted by God. I love that. And I love that we have devoted our lives to that.
And so I want to say that I am so grateful to God for you and the discipline that you’re showing in studying and in staying with the work that we have been called to at CARE, Carol, that I want to share with you a way that I have begun to do my own personal devotion. And I do this even before I get out of bed.
I lie there for about 5 minutes and I ask the Lord to give me a heart of compassion, a heart of compassion and wisdom for what we will face today or the week. Just a heart of compassion. So that that compassion extends to my family and to neighbors and to friends and, you know, even to enemies that we make along the line of compassion, have a heart of compassion.
And then I on my own, stir up gratitude and gratitude for what God has already done, things I don’t even know about. God has done. And I want to be grateful and grateful for opportunities like this and grateful for education and my home and my family and, you know, transportation, grateful for my health, just grateful to be in my in my right mind.
So many things that that I have on my gratitude list. It’s just amazing. And then I do some forgiveness work. And here’s a prayer that I wrote that I want to share with you. I forgive everyone for everything that has ever been done to me, by the way, that everyone includes myself. I forgive everyone for everything that has ever been done to me past, present and future, in thought, in word, or indeed.
And and intention or by accident. So whether it was intentional or whether it was just an accident, I still want to forgive. Now, as this as I’m going through this forgiveness, sometimes things might come up or sometimes things will come up during the day. And then I could say, wait a minute, I already forgave that. Forgiveness, by the way, was one of the first real studies that I did and and real sermons that I preached in seminary a long time ago.
And and it and it is to release. All right. The the word forgive to release to let it go. That I don’t have to have the emotion of it. I don’t I don’t necessarily have to go out to dinner with a person who abuses me. Okay. But I can release. I can forgive. I can forgive myself for things that I should have done and mistakes that I’ve made and receive.
The grace of God and the forgiveness of God to start over. Okay. To start again. So this forgiveness becomes very important to carry that package of forgiveness around all the time. And then when things come up, you know, maybe a thought will come up. Remember when so-and-so did this? And I can say yes, but I already forgave that and I can keep on moving.
All right. So those three things. So it’s it’s compassion, gratitude and forgiveness. And then there is another move. And the move is to use my imagination to create my perfect life. What would that involve? Where would I work? What would my finances be like? What would the ministry people like? What would the job be like? What would my relationship with my husband be like?
What would my family be like? I just imagine that I create that because, hey, I’m made in the image of God. So we’re creators, right? I just do that and I have no limits to that because my creativity, my success doesn’t cost anyone anything. All right? It just requires me to be better than I was yesterday. Or for me to think bigger.
And so I love that I work on that with the spirit. Like, what about this? And and then after I imagine that, oh, by the way, it could be an increase of growth in what in the ministry and and so then or increase in my business or something like that and, and so then that’s the fifth. That’s the fourth move and here’s the fifth move.
What can I do today? What one little thing can I do today that will get me closer to that? All right. So maybe it’s doing ten push ups. Maybe it’s taking off an hour early and taking my grandkids to the zoo. Maybe it’s sitting at the table and having dinner instead of watching TV. Right. So it’s there’s something that can be adjusted.
One of the small adjustments I can make, and then I get up and I do the house. And so one of the things was to have this experience with you. It’s major. It’s a miracle. When I think about where I’m from and all the things that God has done and the ways in which I’ve been blessed, even with the call to the ministry and the people that I know and Dr. Chavin just just so many people.
So with that, I want to just say how grateful I am for this time together and encourage us to continue to be devoted to God and, by the way, to have some fun in it. See, so to imagine that we can create amazing things with God and for the people of God. And guess what? The sky is not the limit.
There are no limits to what you and I can do when we realize who we are as sons and daughters. Children of the most high God. So let God be in our beginnings. Let me pray for us for this day, Lord. For this beautiful opportunity. For your love. For us so loved us. You did that. You sent Jesus Christ you so loved us for Jesus that you came.
Then you sent the Holy Spirit, which was in us and in our midst. And for this we give you thanks and price in Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, where we gathered together, we know that you were here. Bueno, buenos días a mi B.H. familia carrol. Quiero decirles que es un honor participar con ustedes y con la familia Carroll en este tiempo de devoción.
La ocasión siempre me atrapa porque sigo preguntándome por qué tengo esta oportunidad. Porque realmente tuviste gente increíble para hacer esto. Así que siempre me siento honrado y humilde por el tiempo de estar con gente tan maravillosa haciendo cosas tan grandes, y especialmente para decir una palabra en nombre de nuestro maravilloso Dios. Quiero hablar en tres áreas por un corto tiempo hoy.
Primero, quiero resaltar lo bendecidos que somos. A veces creo que nos metemos en una rutina y nos subimos a nuestro volante y simplemente vamos al volante. Al final del día, descansamos o comemos un bocado y nos metemos en la cama y eso es todo. Pero quiero señalar un hilo de bendición en lo que hacemos.
Probablemente ya sepa esto, pero me gusta señalarlo y luego simplemente hablar sobre lo increíble que es el proceso educativo en términos de mejorar nuestro mundo. Y por último, me gustaría compartir algunos momentos devocionales y tal vez una forma de incorporar algunas de las cosas que hago en su propio tiempo. Mi escritura es muy simple las primeras cuatro palabras de la Biblia.
Al principio, Dios. En el principio Dios. ¿Cómo sería nuestra vida si en cada comienzo y las tuviéramos todo el día y todos los días en nuestros comienzos, en nuestras conversaciones, en nuestro día de trabajo, en nuestra recreación, cómo comenzamos con Dios, cómo sería eso? Pensé en eso mientras releía recientemente los relatos de la creación en Génesis, y luego pensar en ser la corona de esa creación, ser hombres y mujeres que son seres humanos y tener el dominio sobre esta hermosa creación que tenemos, y luego nuestro llamados y dónde encajamos para hacer de este mundo un lugar mejor.
¿Cuántas personas están haciendo un trabajo tan bueno? Los talentos y los dones que Dios ha dado y cuán importantes son. Estoy agradecido. Agradecido, agradecido con nuestro Dios Todopoderoso por esos llamados. Por ejemplo, piense en el hermoso y sorprendente sistema que tenemos gracias a los agricultores. Tenemos comida gracias a los ganaderos. Tenemos carnes. Por alguien Cuando en cambio es medicina.
Tenemos atención médica. Y hemos tenido un sentido y siempre digo que ya sabes, nosotros tratamos con Jehová porque Dios es nuestro verdadero sanador. Y eso es por la invención y el ingenio que Dios puso en las personas. Y luego esas personas persiguieron eso. Y así tenemos una vida increíble. Entonces, cuando vas al supermercado o vamos a comprar ropa, alguien ha estado trabajando toda la noche para asegurarse de que esos estantes estén apilados, para asegurarse de que las cosas estén limpias y todo eso. Hay todo un grupo de personas haciendo eso. Y podemos estar agradecidos de que para muchos de nosotros, simplemente nos presentamos y simplemente vamos a trabajar.
Y quiero decir que debemos hacerlo sin quejarnos, pero con mucha, mucha, mucha gratitud, aunque las cosas no sean perfectas. La gracia de Dios y el perdón de Dios para empezar de nuevo. Bueno. Para empezar de nuevo. Entonces, este perdón se vuelve muy importante para llevar ese paquete de perdón todo el tiempo. Y luego, cuando surjan cosas, ya sabes, tal vez surja un pensamiento. ¿Recuerdas cuando fulano de tal hizo esto? Y puedo decir que sí, pero eso ya lo perdoné y puedo seguir adelante.
Está bien. Entonces esas tres cosas. Entonces es compasión, gratitud y perdón. Y luego hay otro movimiento. Y el movimiento es usar mi imaginación para crear mi vida perfecta. ¿Qué implicaría eso? ¿Dónde trabajaría? ¿Cómo serían mis finanzas? ¿Qué le gustaría a la gente del ministerio? ¿Cómo sería el trabajo? ¿Cómo sería mi relación con mi esposo?
¿Cómo sería mi familia? Solo imagino que creo eso porque, hey, estoy hecho a imagen de Dios. Así que somos creadores, ¿verdad? Simplemente hago eso y no tengo límites porque mi creatividad, mi éxito no le cuesta nada a nadie. ¿Está bien? Solo requiere que sea mejor de lo que era ayer. O para mí pensar en grande.
Y por eso me encanta trabajar en eso con el espíritu. Como, ¿qué pasa con esto? Y luego me imagino que, oh, por cierto, podría ser un aumento de crecimiento en lo que en el ministerio y entonces o aumento en mi negocio o algo así y, entonces ese es el quinto. Ese es el cuarto movimiento y aquí está el quinto movimiento.
¿Qué puedo hacer hoy? ¿Qué pequeña cosa puedo hacer hoy que me acerque a eso? Está bien. Así que tal vez sea hacer diez flexiones. Tal vez sea salir una hora antes y llevar a mis nietos al zoológico. Tal vez sea sentarse a la mesa y cenar en lugar de ver la televisión. Derecha. Así que hay algo que se puede ajustar.
Uno de los pequeños ajustes que puedo hacer, y luego me levanto y hago la casa. Y entonces una de las cosas era tener esta experiencia contigo. es importante Es un milagro. Mira, entonces imagina que podemos crear cosas asombrosas con Dios y para el pueblo de Dios. ¿Y adivina qué? El cielo no es el limite.
No hay límites para lo que tú y yo podemos hacer cuando nos damos cuenta de quiénes somos como hijos e hijas. Hijos del Dios Altísimo. Que Dios esté en nuestros comienzos.
